We believe that protecting children and strengthening families requires knowledge, commitment and involvement with and from the community at large. We develop family-centered, strength-based and needs-driven service plans. We assist families in accessing needed services and support to reduce the risk of out of home placements. Safety and permanency are our highest priority along with fostering safe and stable family environments free from abuse and neglect.

Maintaining independence is vital to most seniors. Gulf Coast provides case management coordination for homemaker, personal care, respite and other services to enable frail and functionally impaired elders to remain in their homes and avoid or delay placement in a nursing home. Counseling specializes in older adults, both individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention.

Helping non-custodial parents who owe child support with identifying barriers to employment, career planning employability, parenting and financial skills training, guidance, job referrals and post-employment retention services, gives these absent parents the income to support themselves and their children as well as placing them on the road to self-sufficiency. Our program is an effective alternative to incarceration and is beneficial to the Courts, Department of Revenue, tax payers, the men and women we serve, and above all, the children.

Serving the local Jewish community is the heart of our agency. Our services range from emergency financial and food assistance, helping Holocaust Survivors live independently, mentoring Jewish children, providing Jewish Life Education, and counseling through our Counseling Center. We partner with area synagogues, the Jewish Federation of Pinellas and Pasco Counties and other organizations to support Jewish individuals and families in need.

The goal of mental health services is to assist individuals in leading more productive and autonomous lifestyles, and to promote recovery through support, education, and advocacy. For those with severe and persistent mental illness and/ or substance abuse issues, our programs combine therapy with life skills, helping clients to become more resilient and successful community members. Our therapists and counselors provide services in home, at school, and our local offices. Counseling helps individuals and families deal with life’s challenges.

We have taken the lead in Florida to develop and provide comprehensive care for refugees, asylees, asylum seekers and survivors of torture and genocide by partnering with numerous organizations. All programs of the Refugee Services Department are staffed by multi-lingual, multi-cultural, professionally trained individuals who understand the challenges refugees and immigrants face in their new communities.
