Alexander When Scott and Rebecca brought together their blended family, they knew quickly they wanted to adopt. After waiting years for the “right time,” they signed up for an adoption class. Rebecca found hope when she found a 10-year-old boy on the Heart Gallery of Pinellas and Pasco website with a bio highlighting a need for an “intellectual” family. Being that they were both former Latin teachers, Scott and Rebecca thought, “Let’s do it. This just might be our forever child.” After months of visitation, Alex became an official and permanent part of the Mahurin family. In the words of Rebecca, Alex’s mom, “We love him. He’s a Mahurin.
